            QUESTION

Trying to plot a geographic shape file of the UK in python
            Asked 2020-Apr-29 at 15:33

I have tried to install Geopython on 3.7 the Fiona/GDAL failed miserably in the install. Next, I have just tried to query the file with the shape reader and directly plot the points.

While I have had some success with an example on gis.StackOverflow (credit to user681), I used the shapefile from the UK gov website. When I plot the boundaries I get horrible point correlation.

            My code is here.

You had to consider the parts of a shape, which contains the end indices of each part/start index of the following part. Here is what worked for me:

            Install Geopython

Note that for most users, the Enthought Canopy Python distribution is probably the best way to get the required libraries (You'll have to install Folium and GeoPandas separately – they aren't included). However, feel free to install the libraries manually using requirements.txt if you know what you're doing, in which case you'll also need various compilers (GCC, Fortran), and libraries (GDAL, GEOS). The use of a virtualenv is advised. The Rust libraries (though not their Python counterparts) require a Rust installation. For most platforms (OS X, Windows, *nix), using rustup.rs is the easiest way to install and update a Rust installation.
